ABSTRACT:
A quasi-experimental study to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured teaching programme on enhancing knowledge and attitudes toward voluntary blood donation among undergraduate students in selected colleges of Ahmedabad district, Gujarat. The Objectives of the study were to assess the pre-intervention knowledge and attitude regarding voluntary Blood donation. To assess the post-intervention knowledge and attitude. To compare pre- and post-intervention knowledge and attitude scores. In this study experimental type of approach, specifically quasi experimental research approach, and one group pre-test post-test design was used. In this study planned teaching programme was the independent variable, and the knowledge and attitude of sample about voluntary blood donation were the dependent variables. The research setting was selected from colleges of the Ahmedabad districtof Gujarat, in that total 100 samples were selected by the probability sampling technique. The instruments used for data were structured knowledge questionnaire to assess knowledge and a Likert's attitude scale to assess attitude regarding voluntary blood donation. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used for analysis. The data collected was analysed on the basis of objectives and hypothesis of the study. The mean pre-test knowledge score was 12.78 and the mean post test knowledge score was 22.83 with the mean difference of 10.05. The calculated't' was 24.76 and the tabulated't was 2.00 at 0.05 level of significance. It reveals that mean post-test Knowledge score was significantly higher than mean Pre-test Knowledge scores. The calculated't value was greater than the tabulated't". This indicates that difference obtained in the mean pre test and post test knowledge score was a real difference and not by chance. It revealed that the planned teaching programme was effective in terms of knowledge among the samples. The mean pre-test attitude score was 74.73 and the mean post test attitude score was 91.02 with the mean difference of 16.29. The calculated't was 9.39 and the tabulated't was 2.00 at 0.05 level of significance. It reveals that mean post-test attitude score was significantly higher than mean pre-test attitude scores. The calculated't' value was greater than the tabulated't". This indicates that the difference obtained in the mean pre test and post test attitude score was a real difference and not by chance. It revealed that the planned teaching programme was effective in terms of attitude among the samples.
